Little things of significance.
- A small wooden bird. Looks like a sparrow of some kind. Pretty.
Found it tucked in her fingers when she woke up on the sixth morning.
- A sketch of herself. Folded in fourths.
Given to her by Don Marks late on the sixth night.
> The sketch was damaged and thrown away on the twenty-first night.
- Her half-heart necklace. 'Friends'.
- A key on a ribbon. A note; "You have been invited. I can't wait to see you."
Found in a bag for her at noon on the eighth day.
> She left the necklace in the Rose Garden on the fifteenth night.
- A sketch of herself and a little girl, holding hands.
Given to her by Don Marks on the ninth day.
> The sketch was damaged and thrown away on the twenty-first night.
- A coat.
Given to her by Don Marks on the twelfth day. It should have been temporary.
- A clear plastic bracelet snug on her wrist.
Tagged by a Phantasm on the twelfth night.
- A blanket.
- ∴ A family photo of the Haywards. Written on the back in Will's handwriting; "Pearl Lakes, summer '88."
Woke up tucked in the blanket and with the photo in her hands on the thirteenth day.
∴ The photograph is damaged and the text is blurry, but it's okay. From the water on the twenty-first night.
- A pocket watch. Gold; it looks old. There's a flower in the compartment and an engraving in the back. "L.M."
She found it in her bag on the morning of the fourteenth day. She has no idea how it got there.
- A letter. Neat writing, aged paper. Not for her.
Found in her bag on the fourteenth night.
> Given away.
- Winter clothing; a coat, a scarf, and a pair of socks, boots and gloves. All perfect fits.
Found in a box on the fifteenth morning.
- A soft shawl made of wool.
- A wooden hair comb with birds carved into it. Pretty, meant for pinning her hair back.
Found when she woke on the sixteenth morning, the shawl around her shoulders and the comb in her hand.
(Ten days ago there was something similar, wasn't it?)
- A candle. When it burns, no monsters will come near.
- A letter in place of another.
Found when she woke to face the sixteenth night.
> The letter given away.
- A note from her dad. It breaks her heart. She's been gone a long time.
- Christmas gifts;
* a bit of coal,
* a candle,
* a bit of a pine log and a spring of holly,
* a vial of scented oil and a flask of pine tea,
* a lump of hard, dense fruit bread in a cloth sack,
* a small bag of candied fruit and sugared nuts,
* a small piece of resin,
* two gold coins.
- A charm bracelet; silver, with a small bird.
All found in a canvas bag by her feet on the seventeenth morning.
> The note was damaged and thrown away on the twenty-first night.
- A new pretty outfit; blue dress, black shrug, boots. Flattering.
- A hooded cloak; dark, blueish gray. Very warm and resistant to damage.
- A new bag, finely made and holds more than it looks.
Found on the eighteenth morning.
- A note of encouragement. Her mom's handwriting.
- Pressed into her hand at noon by someone who could have written it.
> Damaged and thrown away on the twenty-first night.
- A daffodil and two white stones.
Found on a breakfast tray on the nineteenth morning. It was a good breakfast.
> Thrown away on the twenty-first night.
- A waterproof bag;
* two white pills,
* four food bars,
* a water filter,
* snorkel,
* a towel,
* an emergency blanket.
It was by her feet by noon on the twenty-first day.
> Thrown away on the twenty-first night. All of it.
- A necklace. A leather cord and a pendant made from horseshoe nails.
Given to her by Jamie McCrimmon on the twenty-first day. It was made for her. It takes the place of her half heart.
... And sometimes, a sketchbook.
There was an experiment on the twelfth night. There were needles in her eyes and mouth and a drill in the back of her neck. There's a small opening there, beneath the skin - not really visible, but you can feel it when you touch it, a hollow in the bone that the skin healed over.
There are three effects. One, she can perfectly read people's intentions towards her, regardless of their behaviour or words. It's almost a precognition thing. Like her old sudden understandings of the world.
Two, she can't really lie anymore. Or, well. She can, and she can certainly try, but it's unconvincing at best and obvious at worst. Evading things suffer from this too.
Three, the monsters are attached to her. There's an allure that they follow; she's the Pied Piper and they are her rats ... except that if she has any actual control over them, she doesn't know about it. All she knows is that they follow.
When she died on the seventeenth night, all the effects except the hollow in her neck disappeared.
There is a mark on the back of her right hand, painted there by someone invisible on the eighteenth day at noon.
